Jochen Hung

PhD Student, Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies, University of London

After graduating from Freie Universität Berlin with a MA in 2004, Jochen Hung worked as a journalist for various newspapers in Germany and the UK, including Die Zeit, The Guardian and Berliner Zeitung. He started his PhD studies at the IGRS in 2008, focusing on the role of the newspaper Tempo (1928 – 1933) in the culture of the Weimar Republic.

He has given presentations about various facets of Weimar culture in the UK and abroad, including an invited lecture about Erika Mann held at the Goethe-Institut Glasgow and the Glasgow Womens’ Library to commemorate Womens’ Day 2010.
